Kali Temple and Idol Vandalized in Thakurgaon District of Bangladesh, Police Begin Formal Investigation

Authorities have launched an investigation following allegations of vandalism at the Sri Sri Banakali Temple in Ward No. 9 of Ranisankail Municipality, located in Thakurgaon District.

According to local residents, unidentified individuals are believed to have entered the temple premises under the cover of darkness on the night of 27 February. By early morning, community members discovered that a religious idol had been damaged along with portions of the temple’s interior structure.

The incident has prompted concern among residents, who described the discovery as deeply distressing. News of the alleged vandalism quickly spread within the locality, leading to calls for immediate administrative attention and enhanced security arrangements.

Police officials confirmed that officers visited the site shortly after being informed and have initiated a formal inquiry. Investigators are currently documenting the damage, collecting physical evidence, and interviewing local residents to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify those responsible.

No injuries or casualties have been reported in connection with the incident.
