Hindu Voice Team: A Hindu temple in Labhpur, Birbhum district, was allegedly vandalised by unidentified miscreants who took advantage of the darkness of night to carry out the act. The incident reportedly took place on October 27.
A Ram temple is located in Chauhatta Bazaar, under the jurisdiction of Labhpur Police Station. The temple houses idols of Lord Ram, Lakshman and Goddess Sita. On the morning of October 27, local residents discovered that the idols had been found broken inside the temple. Blood was reportedly scattered throughout the temple premises.
As news of the incident spread, considerable tension erupted in the area. A large number of angry Hindu residents gathered at the temple and demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible.
Local Hindus alleged that cow’s blood had been spread inside the temple and claimed that the miscreants had deliberately carried out the act to desecrate the place of worship. However, the nature and source of the blood have not yet been independently confirmed.
Police personnel have been deployed at the temple premises, and an investigation has been launched to identify those responsible. The police have cordoned off the temple to facilitate the investigation.
Meanwhile, the police have appealed to residents to maintain peace and ensure that law and order in the area are not disturbed.
