Bangladesh: Temple Bomb Attack in Cumilla Injures Three, Including Priest

Hindu Voice Team: A hand-bomb attack at a Hindu temple in Cumilla city left at least three people injured, including the temple priest, in an incident that has raised serious concerns about security and communal harmony in the area.

The attack occurred on7th of March, Saturday evening at the Kaligachhtala temple in the Thakurpara area while devotees were performing a Shani Puja, according to local police. Witnesses said three unidentified individuals entered the temple premises and threw a hand bomb toward the worship area.

Temple priest Keshab Chakraborty attempted to push the explosive away with a stick, but it detonated shortly afterward, leaving him injured. Two other people were also hurt in the incident, including Abdul Barek, who was on his way to prayers at a nearby mosque. All three victims received treatment at Cumilla Sadar Hospital.

Police said the attackers fled the scene after the explosion, leaving behind a bag near the temple. While escaping, they reportedly detonated two additional hand bombs in front of a nearby mosque, which caused panic among residents and injured worshippers.

Senior officials, including Cumilla District Police Superintendent Anisuzzaman, confirmed that law enforcement agencies immediately launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the attack.

Later that night, senior administrative officials including the district commissioner and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) representatives visited the scene to assess the situation and ensure security in the area.

Authorities said efforts are underway to track down the attackers, while additional security measures have been deployed around religious sites to prevent further incidents.
