Hindu Voice Desk: Like Bangladesh, Hindu temples are being targeted and attacked in the Bharatiya state of West Bengal daily. A fresh case has been reported from the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Soon after the incident, the Police arrested one person. But surprisingly, within a few hours of the arrest, the police said that ‘the person has mental health issues’.

On the morning of the 9th of March, local Hindus of Shakchura area under the jurisdiction of the Basirhat Police District saw that the Murti of the Kali Mata temple had been vandalised. As the news spread, local Hindus in large numbers gathered in front of the temple. They demanded to identify and arrest the accused. Meanwhile, the Police came and promised to arrest the accused. The Police also promised to replace the Murti.

However, the news of the temple attack soon became viral on social media. By posting the picture of the damaged Murti, many netizens questioned what steps the Police have taken so far. Soon, the Police released a statement on their official Facebook page. The Police informed that they have arrested one person. But, the Police didn’t disclose the identity of the accused. In the Facebook post, the Police gave a warning to book those who were spreading the news of the incident.
