Bangladesh: Theft in Laxminarayana temple in Munshiganj, 5 Murtis stolen

Amid continuous attacks on Hindu temples, reports of theft in a famous Hindu temple have been coming from Muslim-majority Bangladesh. Thieves reportedly stole 5 Murtis of the famous Siddheswari Laxminarayana temple, situated in Munshiganj. 

As per the reports, the Siddheswari Laxminarayana temple is a well-known temple of Munshiganj town. The temple is situated at Panchghariakandi locality of the town. 

On 6th of October morning, the priest of the temple saw that all the Murtis were missing from the temple. Then, the priest informed the members of the temple management committee. Later, the Police were also informed. 

Mahadev Halder, President of the temple management committee said, “40 Kg Radha-Krishna Murti, made of Ashtadhatu, Gopal Murti, Ganesh Murti, another Murti of Radha-Krishna made of brass, Murti of Ram-Sita made of brass, a swing made of silver and donation box, all are stolen.”

Meanwhile, based on the complaint from the temple management committee, the Police launched an investigation to identify the thieves.

Local councillor Sajjad Hossian Sagar said, “The temple is more than hundred years old. But, this type of incident never happened. We want the Police to arrest the culprits immediately.”
