Hindu Voice Team: Assam Police have arrested one person in connection with the mysterious death of Namrata Engtipi, the girl from Karbi Anglong who was found dead in Nagaon district after she was reported missing for nearly a month.

The arrested man has been identified as Saddam Hussein.

While addressing the media, the police official said, “this was apparently a murder case. The arrested man took the victim in his car and strangled her to death”. Later, the accused dumped her body in a lonely place. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the murder.

It is worth mentioning that Namrata Engtipi, a resident of Denta Engti Gaon in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district went missing on June 21 this year. Nearly a month later, her body was discovered on 14th of July in Nagaon district.

As the news came in public, several organisation demanded a thorough investigation and justice regarding the mysterious death of Namrata Engtipi. Student organisations ‘Karbi students and Youth Council’ and the ‘Nagaon Students’ Association’ have demanded swift and transparent investigation and justice for Namrata.

However, the family members of the deceased Namrata have questioned the role of the Nagaon Police. They claimed that they couldn’t perform the last rites of their daughter as they have not received her body because of the Police negligence. Without proper investigation and identification, the police earlier had handed her body to the another family whose daughter went missing. The family without any identification, performed last rites.
