Hindu Voice Team: A peaceful program to distribute the Bhagavad Gita turned violent in Mahala village of Pandaveshwar, Durgapur, on 25th of September, Thursday when BJP workers were attacked byTrinamool Congress (TMC)-backed Islamists. At least four BJP activists sustained injuries in the assault, sparking widespread condemnation from the opposition.

Witnesses said BJP members were handing out copies of the Gita to villagers when a group of TMC cadres barged in, shouted slogans, and physically attacked them. The injured were rushed to a local hospital, while panic spread across the village.

Lying in the hospital bed, an injured BJP worker said, “Sheikh Alauddin and Azhar led this attack. They suddenly attacked us and beat us.”

BJP leaders slammed the ruling party for what they called a “deliberate and shameful attack” on both democracy and religion.

“The TMC is so insecure that they cannot even tolerate the distribution of the holy Gita. This is an assault not just on BJP workers but on the faith of Hindus,” said a BJP district leader.

Another senior BJP spokesperson added:

“Mamata Banerjee’s party has institutionalized violence. They want to silence every opposition worker and even disrupt religious practices. Bengal today has become a state where neither democracy nor faith is safe.”

The TMC, however, dismissed the allegations, accusing the BJP of spreading lies for political gain. A local TMC representative claimed that “there was no organized attack” and that BJP was “trying to communalize the issue.”

Police have been deployed in Mahala village to prevent further clashes. Authorities said an investigation has been launched, but locals fear renewed tension in the coming days.
