Police in southern Bangladesh are investigating the killing of a Hindu man whose beheaded body was recovered in Pirojpur district, in an incident that has raised concern among local residents.
The victim, Gopal Chandra Das, 45, from Kashipur village in the Barisal region, was identified by his family on Saturday. His body was found on 13 March near a riverbank close to a brick kiln in Nezarabad sub-district, police said.
According to investigators, the body was discovered by a worker shortly after a group of men were seen arriving at and then leaving the area on a motorcycle.
Witnesses told police that three men arrived at the brick kiln at around 15:15 local time. About 12 minutes later, two of them were seen leaving the area at speed.
Soon afterwards, a worker at the site found the victim’s headless body near the riverbank and alerted authorities.
Police say they are examining whether the victim was brought to the location from elsewhere.
Pirojpur Superintendent of Police Md. Mohammad Monjur Ahmed Siddiki said two suspects, identified as Md. Samrat and Md. Raju, have been arrested in connection with the case following police operations.
Several agencies, including the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), are assisting in the inquiry.
Officers have collected CCTV footage from nearby areas, while forensic teams continue to examine evidence.

The killing has caused unease among members of the local Hindu community, some of whom said they were concerned about safety.
Family members of the victim have called for those responsible to be brought to justice.
Police have not yet confirmed a motive, and investigations are continuing.
