In a vital development, the Hindu minority community in Madaripur staged a protest rally on 24th January. They demanded immediate action from the government against injustice.
Holding placards and banners, Hindu minorities in large numbers rallied in Kalkini Upazila of the district. They raised slogans against the continuous torture by the Islamists. Large numbers of people, from youths to elders, joined the rally.
They raised slogans like, ‘We want justice’, ‘stop Hindu persecution’, ‘we want punishment for Anwar Bepari’.
It is worth mentioning that soon after the results of the general elections, Islamists targeted the Hindu minorities in different parts of the Madaripur district. Hindu houses were attached, vandalised, and looted. Also, the Islamists didn’t spare temples. Several temples were attacked. Also, Hindu women were molested. In Kalkini Upazila, Basudeb Mondal was brutally murdered. Another Hindu, Jhantu Mondal, faced brutal torture. His house was vandalised and looted. Jhantu Mondal is now undergoing treatment in a hospital in Dhaka.
But, strangely, the Bangladesh Police under the Sheikh Hasina-led government is not taking action against the Islamists. And that’s why anger is increasing among the Hindu minority community of Bangladesh.
