Bangladesh: Hindu temple is burnt down in Faridpur, locals allegedly lynched 2 Islamists

Amid regular incidents of attack on Hindu temples in Bangladesh, a fresh case has been reported from the Faridpur district. 

Islamists allegedly put fire to a Kali Mata temple in Krishna Nagar village under Madhukhali  Upazila on the night of 18th of April. After the incident, locals got angry and allegedly lynched two Islamists. 

As per the report, the Kali Mata temple is situated beside Panchapalli Primary School. Construction works were going on there. Some Muslim workers were residing there. Yesterday night, local Hindus saw that the Kali Mata temple was burning. As the news spread, local Hindus in large numbers gathered and extinguished the fire. 

Deputy Commissioner of Faridpur, Kamrul Hasan Talukdar, said, “Angry villagers attacked the workers in the school building. Two are already dead. Three others are under treatment.”

Later, high-ranking officials of the Police and the administration rushed to the spot. A massive police force was also deployed in the area. 

As the situation is still tense, the Police force from other areas was called to maintain the peace. Also, the para-military force BGB was deployed.
