Assam: Hindus unitedly protest against cow slaughter in Silchar; the Police arrested two

On the day of Eid, tension erupted in Silchar town of Assam regarding the alleged cow slaughter. Local Hindus started a protest, after which the police arrested two persons. Although, the main culprit behind the alleged cow slaughter is still absconding. The Police confiscated some meat from a packwas believed to be beef.

On the 17th of June, Monday, some people were slaughtering cows in the Madan Mohan Road area of Tarapur of Silchar town, alleged some residents. Afterthat, local Hindus protested in front of the Tarapur Police Station. Eventually, the police reached the spot and arrested two persons. 

The arrested individuals were identified as Thinang Rongmai and Chamlak Po Rangmai. 

As per the received information, the incident began when Bajrang Dal members received reports of a cow being slaughtered in the Tarapur Madan Mohan Road area. Acting on this information, they visited the location but didn’t witness the act of slaughter. But they found meat in a bag. 

Bajrang Dal members immediately informed the Cachar Police. The Police came to the spot and confiscated the meat, which was believed to be beef. The Police also arrested two persons from the spot, while another managed to escape.
