Hindu Voice Team: In a shocking escalation of political violence, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Tufanganj of Coochbehar district of West Bengal was attacked and vandalised by Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred during a BJP-organised protest against the recent Durgapur gangrape case, exposing the increasing hostility between the two parties in the region.

Eyewitnesses reported that BJP MLA Malti Rava Roy, along with party leaders and supporters, had gathered at the local BJP office to plan a police station siege programme. Suddenly, a group of TMC supporters emerged from a nearby TMC office, shouting slogans against the BJP and physically confronting the protesters.

The TMC workers allegedly vandalised the BJP office, breaking furniture, damaging property, and pelting bricks at party workers. Several BJP supporters were injured during the attack. The BJP has accused the Trinamool Congress of deliberately carrying out the assault to suppress political dissent and intimidate its workers.

“This is not an isolated incident. The Trinamool Congress has repeatedly targeted BJP offices and workers across West Bengal. Their aim is to create fear and prevent political opposition from functioning freely,” stated a BJP leader.

Police arrived at the scene to restore order and have launched an investigation into the attack. Security in the area has been intensified to prevent further violence.

Political analysts say that such incidents reveal a disturbing pattern of political aggression in the state, raising serious concerns about law and order and the safety of citizens exercising their democratic rights.

The BJP has demanded immediate action against the TMC workers responsible for the attack and urged the authorities to ensure protection for party offices and workers across West Bengal.
