Hindu Voice Team: A Pakistani woman who allegedly escaped from a Nepalese prison has been arrested by the Government Railway Police at Sabroom Railway Station in South Tripura. The woman, identified as Louis Nighat Akhtar Bhano, wife of Mohammad Golaf Faraj from Sheikhupura, Pakistan, was detained after arriving on the Kanchanjunga Express on Saturday night.

According to police sources, the woman had been imprisoned in Nepal in 2014 for drug trafficking after being caught with nearly one kilogram of brown sugar and was sentenced to 15 years in jail. She reportedly escaped from a prison in Kathmandu during widespread unrest in Nepal last month, when thousands of inmates fled detention centers amid violent protests.

Investigators said the woman entered India illegally about two weeks ago and was attempting to cross into Bangladesh through Tripura. During interrogation, she admitted to entering Nepal twelve years ago on a Pakistani passport and later engaging in drug smuggling activities.

Police said she could not produce valid identity or travel documents at the time of her arrest. She was taken into custody and is being interrogated by Tripura Police. The case has been handed over to intelligence and central security agencies for further investigation, given its cross-border implications.

Authorities have tightened border security in the region as inquiries continue into how she crossed multiple borders, un-detected. The woman will be produced before a local court in Sabroom for further legal proceedings.
