Hindu Voice Team: A 26-years-old Hindu woman of Kolkata was allegedly assaulted by an app can driver on her way to Salt Lake from Baguiati home on Thursday. The brave Hindu woman fought back and got the accused cab driver arrested.
The accused cab driver, Shahbaz Ali, had allegedly kicked her in the abdomen and twisted her right arm after she refused to pay ₹40 extra over the fare generated on the app.
The Hindu woman faced the assault while she was traveling to her relative’s home nest to Subhanna in Salt Lake DF Block.
However, after the assault, the Hindu woman didn’t back down. She kicked the man on his knees, snatched his car keys and ran to the police station. The Police immediately arrested the cab driver.
The Hindu woman also alleged that the car that arrived to pick her up had a different registration number from the one reflected on the app.
The Hindu woman wrote in her complaint, “When I asked about the registration number, the driver gave a lame excuse that he was driving someone else’s car. Upon reaching Salt Lake, I realised that the driver brought me to a destination, at least 600 metres from my drop location.” The woman alleged that the driver demanded extra money from her.
Shahbaz Ali has been remanded in judicial custody.
