A deeply disturbing case has emerged from Chathat under Phansidewa of West Bengal, where a 13-year-old Hindu girl has been allegedly raped repeatedly for several months.
According to a police complaint filed by the girl’s father Monidip Gupta on October 2 at Phansidewa Police Station, brothers Muhammad Aabtaar, Muhammad Alam and Muhammad Iltar had repeatedly raped the child for several months. The complaint further states that their acquaintance Muhammad Yousuf had recorded the first sexual assault and that footage was subsequently used to blackmail the child. The family of Aabtar, Alam and Iltar has also been accused of knowing about the alleged crimes and remaining silent.

The matter came to light only after the girl fell ill on October 1 and was taken to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, where doctors found that she was approximately 12 weeks pregnant.
Police have arrested one accused, while others are reportedly absconding.
Hindu Voice representatives who spoke with residents in Chathat say local Hindus are deeply alarmed by what they describe as a dramatic demographic transformation over the past two decades, alleging that large numbers of Bangladeshi Muslims have settled in the area. Monidip and several other Hindu residents have also claimed that hateful narratives against Hindus are being propagated from the local mosque on a weekly basis. These claims demand a transparent, evidence-based investigation. Any person found to be residing illegally must be identified through due legal process and dealt with strictly under the law.
Residents have also stated that this is the second recent case in the region in which a Hindu girl has allegedly been targeted by local Muslim youths within just three months.
