A Hindu man was lynched to death in the Baliya village under the jurisdiction of the Bhatol Police Outpost of Uttar Dinajpur district of West Bengal. The deceased man has been identified as Bikash Barman(49). He was a successful businessman in Hemtabad.
The incident happened on the night of the 9th of February, Sunday. On that night, Bikash Barman and his wife were returning from a reception. On the way, in the Baliya village, another marriage function was going on. Suddenly, a five years old child came from nowhere in front of their motorcycle. Bikash Barman pressed the brake, but it hit the child. The child got injured and started crying.
Then, some people of different community came out from the marriage function and they started beating Bikash Barman. Due to the beating, Bikash Barman became senseless.
His wife Suchitra Barman said, “I grabbed their legs and pleaded with them to spare my husband. I also told them to bear all the cost of the child’s treatment. But, they didn’t listen and didn’t stop beating my husband.”
After some time, some people took them to the Hemtabad Rural Hospital. But the doctor declared Bikash Barman dead. Later, Amal Barman, the brother of Bikash Barman filed a written complaint in the Bhatol Police Outpost. The Police immediately launched an investigation and arrested two accused Nawab Sirajdoula(28) and Jalal Muhammad(29).
As of now, the child who was injured in the accident, is safe and was released after primary treatment.
