The Cachar Police confirmed that they had found the missing Hindu girl from Silchar town who was a victim of an alleged ‘Love Jihad’ case.
The Police also informed they have recovered the girl from a village near the Bangladesh border of Tripura, and they have arrested the boy. Both are now in Police custody.
Earlier, Viswa Hindu Parishad leader Mithun Nath held a press conference with the girl’s mother. He highlighted that the girl became a victim of ‘Love Jihad’. In the press conference, her mother alleged, “Mumin trapped my daughter with a fake Hindu name and identity. When she came to know about her real identity, she decided to walk out of the relationship. But, Mumin forced my daughter into the relationship by threatening her to make her private photos and videos public.”
Cachar SP Numal Mahatta said, “After the incident was brought to our notice, we traced their location by tracking their mobile phones. They were in Tripura at the Bangladesh border. I contacted the BSF, and both were safely brought into our custody. The alleged victim has been recovered, and the accused has been arrested.”
However, the mother of the girl alleged that the accused boy is a Bangladeshi citizen. However, after primary investigation, the Police confirmed that the accused youth, Mumin, is a resident of Tripura. For the last few years, he has been living in the Nagatila area of Silchar town.
