Hindu Woman Rita Rani Molested and Brutally Tortured by BNP-Affiliated Firoz and Associates in Dhaka, Investigating Officer Hafizur Rahman Tells Her To Wear a Burkha and Blames Her Beauty

Rita Rani was molested and brutally tortured under broad daylight by the convener of BNP-affiliated Swechchhasebak Dal’s Mirpur Thana unit Firoz and his associates inside her Mirpur home in Dhaka on 6th November.

Upon seeking justice, she was told by Md. Hafizur Rahman, the Officer-in-Charge of the Mirpur Model Police Station, that her beauty had invited such an assault and wearing a burkha might have protected her.

Inspite of statements from Hindu organisations across Bangladesh, demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of Firoz and every individual involved in this heinous attack, an impartial investigation into the alleged police misconduct and full protection for Rita Rani and her family, the police have not taken any decisive action.

Even more disturbing are allegations that she is now being villified and branded as a prostitute.

Another Hindu woman just like her was first gang-raped and brutally assaulted inside her home by BNP activist Fazar Ali in Muradnagar of Cumilla on 26th June, 2025 and then branded a prostitute.

In January 2026, a 40-year-old Hindu widow Jhenaidah, was gang-raped, tied to a tree, shaved and tortured by Shahin and Hassan. She too, was subjected to character assassination and labelled as a “woman without morals”.

We can see the same horrifying repeating.
