Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, accompanied by eight other Naga legislators, has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding immediate action against Kuki-Zo political leaders and armed-group operatives allegedly involved in attacks on Naga civilians.
In a strongly worded appeal, the legislators demand the arrest of Kuki-Zo leaders whom they deem responsible for the killing and dismemberment of six Naga men. They specifically call for the arrest of Thangboi Kipgen of KNF-P, alleging that cadres under his command were responsible for the killings.
More explosively, the legislators have demanded action against Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, alleging that her office is colluding with the Kuki militant organisation led by her husband.
The Naga lawmakers have also called for the immediate abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with Kuki armed groups, citing repeated alleged violations and attacks on civilians.
Their warning to New Delhi is unmistakable : unless decisive action is taken, they say they will be unable to defend their continued support for the Manipur government before their constituents.
Nine legislators have now formally put the question before Amit Shah: Will the government act against alleged political–militant collusion, or will the SoO framework continue despite civilian killings?
