A Hindu youth died by suicide as his converted wife was pressuring him to convert to Christianity. The deceased has been identified as Rohan Chowdhury.

As per the received information, Rohan Chowdhury was a resident of Prafullanagar village under the jurisdiction of Shantipur Police Station of Nadia district. He worked as a driver. He was alone in his family as his parents died many years ago. A few years ago, he married a woman.

His friends alleged that sometime after marriage, his wife got converted to Christianity under the influence of missionaries. Since then, she has been pressuring him to convert. But Rohan didn’t convert.

To convert him, his wife allegedly put pressure on Rohan. But Rohan didn’t convert. So, months ago, his wife left him and started to live with her parents. After this, Rohan became lonely, and he was living alone. He also became mentally disturbed.

On the 21st of December morning, neighbours informed the Police after receiving no response from his home. The Police found that Rohan was hanging in his home. The Police recovered the body and sent it for postmortem. The Police also informed his wife. But his wife didn’t come to receive the body.

His body remained in the hospital for a day. As his wife didn’t receive the body, his friends and neighbours took the body from the hospital and performed the last rites.
