The Special Task Force(STF) of West Bengal Police has arrested a 27-year-old Muslim youth, a resident of the Nadia district for alleged links with a Bangladesh-based terror outfit ‘Shahadat-e al Hiqma‘.

The arrested youth has been identified as Harej Sheikh(27). Harej is a resident of Mayapur in Nadia’s Nabadwip. On the 25th of June, he was arrested from the Howrah Railway Station.

Five days ago, the STF had arrested a computer science student, named Muhammed Habibullah(21), from Paschim Bardhaman district. Habibullah was allegedly linked with the same Islamic terror outfit of Bangladesh, ‘Shahadat-e al Hiqma‘.

According to the STF, Harej Sheikh has links with the same terror group. STF got his name during Habibullah’s interrogation.

However, Muhammed Habibullah is in the STF’s custody. He has been booked under the Unlawful Activities(Prevention) Act.

The STF suspects Habibullah to be the chief of the West Bengal module of ‘Shahadat-e al Hiqma‘. Habibullah has been trying to recruit new members in the terror outfit.
