West Bengal: Murti of Bhagwan Shiva broken in Dakshin Dinajpur

On midnight of 13th of April, Murti of Bhagwan Shiva was broken at Laskarhat under Tapan Police station of Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal. Seeing broken Murti, local Hindus got angry and blocked road in protest. As of now, no one is arrested.

As per information received, local Hindus saw in the morning that Murti of Bhagwan Shiva broken. Head of Bhagwan Shiva was cut in Talibani style and was thrown outside. They got angry and blocked road in protest demanding immediate indetification and arrest of the culprits.

Large Police force reached the spot and tried to pacify the angry locals. A local resident said, ‘For last few months, some unknown persons are targeting the temple. Whenever we put the light in temple, the lights were broken. We demand immediate arrest of the culprits.’

In recent times, it has been seen that temples are being targeted all over West Bengal. In February this year, Murtis of Ma Kali and Radha-krishna were broken at Islampur town of North Dinajpur district. Like this incident, head of Murti was cut there.
