Attacks on the Hindus continue in the state of West Bengal. Islamists have been targeting and attacking almost every Hindu festival.Now Islamists attacked a Rath Yatra procession in the Howrah district of West Bengal.
As per the received information, on the evening of 5th of July, Saturday, Hindu residents of the Salap area were celebrating Ulto Rath Yatra(return Rath Yatra). The Salap area comes under the jurisdiction of the Domjur Police Station.
Local Hindus have been celebrating the Rath Yatra for the last 40 years. But, this year, Islamists attacked the yatra. As the Rath Yatra procession was crossing the market, suddenly a group of Muslim youths attacked the procession. Some eyewitnesses said that Islamists were armed with sticks and sharp weapons. They started to pelt stones and bricks towards the Hindu devotees who were in the procession. Several Hindus got injured. Besides, many Hindu devotees were beaten. At least 14 Hindu devotees got injured in the attack.
After the incident, local Hindus stopped the Rath Yatra and placed the Rath beside the road. Meanwhile, the Police came with the personnel of RAF(Rapid Action Force). By that time, the perpetrators fled. Surprisingly, the police expressed their anger towards the Hindus.
In a viral video of the incident, it can be seen that the Police got into a brawl with the protesting Hindus. However, the Police couldn’t arrest a single person involved in the attack on the Rath Yatra procession.
