Hindu Voice Team: A shocking case of suspected sexual exploitation and alleged religious conversion has triggered tension in Kakdwip town after 21-year-old law student Sonia Halder was found dead inside the chamber of local lawyer Sheikh Manowar Alam.
Family Alleges Sexual Exploitation
According to the family, Sonia frequently visited the chamber of Advocate Sheikh Manowar Alam to gain practical legal experience.
However, the family claims that she was sexually exploited during this period. They say they recovered love letters and other personal items suggesting an inappropriate relationship between Sonia and the accused lawyer.
Despite these allegations, police have not yet arrested Manowar Alam, causing widespread dissatisfaction among locals and activists.
Alleged Religious Conversion Angle
The controversy deepened after the discovery of Sonia’s suicide note, where she reportedly mentioned “Allah” several times and ended the note with “Khuda Hafiz.”
The family insists this indicates that the lawyer allegedly coerced or manipulated Sonia into converting to Islam.
Community members have also echoed concerns about a deliberate attempt to influence or alter Sonia’s religious identity.
Political Influence Alleged
Many locals have alleged that the accused lawyer has links with influential TMC leaders, suggesting that this political connection may be the reason no immediate arrest has been made.
Police Investigation Underway
Police authorities have stated that they are investigating the case from multiple angles, including the circumstances of the suicide, the alleged exploitation, and the claims of forced religious conversion.
However, the delay in taking action against the accused has sparked questions about fairness, political pressure, and accountability.
