West Bengal: Armed Islamists attacked Hindus in Murshidabad; shops were looted and vandalised

Hindu Voice Desk: Communal tensions between Hindu and Muslim erupted in the Nawda area of Murshidabad district of West Bengal. Armed Islamists attacked Hindus on the night of 09th of March, 2025. 

As per the local sources, on the night of 9th of March, a small scuffle broke out between some Muslim youths and Hindu youths in Patikabari Bazaar of Nawda block of Murshidabad district. Soon, more local Muslim goons came there armed. 

Then, armed Muslim goods started targeting shops and business entities of the Hindu community. Shops were vandalised and looted. A few shops were set on fire. 

A local said, “Islamists came prepared as if it was pre-planned. They vandalised, looted and set ablaze shops belong to the Hindu community. Some Hindu youths tried to resist the Islamist goons.”

Soon after the incident, West Bengal’s BJP Suvendu Adhikari raised the issue in ‘X’ and demanded to deploy additional forces to restore normalcy.
