West Bengal: Armed Islamists attacked and stabbed Hindus in a Puja Mandap in Howrah

Attacks on the Hindus continues in West Bengal. A fresh case has been reported from the Howrah district where armed Islmaists attacked and stabbed Hindus in a Puja Mandap. At least five Hindus got injured in the attack. The incident occured on the night of 27th of April.

As per the local sources, Hindu villagers of Bhagawatipur village under the jurisdiction of the sankrail Police Station organised a Kali Mata Puja. On the night of 27th of April, the villagers organised a cultural program on the ground beside the Puja Mandap. During that time, some Muslim youths from the neighbouring locality started teasing and harassing Hindu girls. Hindu villagers protested and told Muslim youths to leave. 

But, within half an hour, Muslims came back with more numbers. This time, they were armed with sharp weapons. They started to stab Hindus there. While many managed to flee, five Hindus got injured in the attack. 

The injured Hindus are identified as Amar Patra, Bishnu Sardar, Bijoy Singh, Debashis Barik and Chandu Barik. 

Later, a massive Police force reached the area. But, by that time Islamists fled. The Police talked to the villagers and immediately launched an investigation. As of now, the Police arrested four Islamists while a search has been going on to nab the other accused Islamists.
