West Bengal: 4 Islamists abducted and gang-raped a Janajatiya woman in Dhupguri

News of the abduction and gang-rape of a Janajatiya woman has been reported from Dhupguri of West Bengal. Based on the complaint, the Police already arrested 3 Islamists while another one is absconding. 

According to the woman’s complaint, she is a widow and belongs to the Janajatiya community. After the death of her husband a few years ago, she used to live alone in her home with her minor daughter.

On the evening of the 13th of December, Wednesday, she was alone in her house. Suddenly, 4 Islamists broke into her home with sharp weapons. By threatening her, they abducted her and took her to a deserted place near her house. There, the Islamists tortured and raped her. 

As per the information, after some time, the woman gained courage and shouted for help. Hearing the woman screaming, some locals rushed to the place. However, the Islamists managed to flee. The locals recovered the woman and took her to the hospital.

Later, the woman filed a complaint in the Dhupguri Police Station. Based on the complaint, the Police launched a search on Thursday night and arrested 3 Islamists. The arrested are identified as Vuttu Sheikh, Mofijul Islam and Nur Alam. Another accused is now absconding.
