The student uprising in Bangladesh was hijacked by radical political parties, militia and anti-Bharat organisations. The anarchy – the arson, looting in broad daylight and torture of the Hindu minority community of the country are its consequences. The anarchic situation began after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on 5 August. It was aggravated after the Md. Younus took charge as the interim prime minister of Bangladesh on Thursday night.
After this, the Social media platform Facebook was flooded with the posts of radical Islamists ( Jamat and Hefajate Islam) who claimed to complete the Gojwatul – E – Hind ( war against non – Muslims) and form a new country named ‘Islamic Banglasthan’. Some Jamat supporters also posted that they will create a ‘Greater Islamic Bangladesh.’
This projected country would be formed with entire Bangladesh, the entire state of West Bengal, a part of Jharkhand, Katihar and Kishanganj districts of the state of Bihar, Jhapa of Nepal, Rakhine Province of Myanmar, Arakan region, some parts of the Andaman and some parts of the North Eastern states of Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Mijoram and Manipur. In the social media, Islamic people were giving a Clarion call for ‘Jihad’ to take control of these regions. It was also mentioned in the campaign that the national language of this proposed country would be Arabic and Urdu.
It is also important to mention that Islamists and Jamat sympathizers also posted a map of the proposed Islamic country.
In some cities of Bangladesh including Dhaka the roadside shops were decorated with the graphiti in Arabic. Some big guns of the interim government too called the people to declare war on Bharat. According to the Intelligence Department’s earlier reports, banned terrorist organisation Hurkat – Ul – Jehadi – Islamic( HUJI ), Jamatul – Mujahidine Bangladesh ( JMB ) , ‘Hefajat-E-Islam’ and supporters of Jamat were claiming for either ‘Mogholosthan’ or an Islamic state. The projected country is the latest edition of it.
Acording to the reports for last two days a part of the Bangladeshi Islamists are highly active in different social media platforms as Facebook and X. They are supported by some bloggers from Peshowar, Karachi, Lahore and Quetta in Pakistan. Even the jailed terrorists of HUJI and JMB have joined hands with them. Some of them have escaped from the prison a few days ago. It is also observed that irrespective of all organisations radical netizens want alteration in the name of the country and new national anthem for the country.
They are arguing for their demand. Some of them have refused the inspiration and legacy of Muktiyuddho(Liberation War,1971) and the independence of the nation. The list of such Islamic radicals include many who travelled in different countries as progressive during the regime of Sheikh Hasina. An argument among the Islamists over the new name of the country is going on – whether it will be ‘Banglasthan’ or ‘Purba Pakistan’(East Pakistan) or ‘Greater Bangladesh’. According to the survey, 91% of these netizens are in favour of naming the country Islamic Banglasthan and driving away the non -muslims.
