Bangladesh: Unknown miscreants set ablaze a Buddhist temple in Chattagram

Attacks on the minorities are continuing in Muslim-majority Bangladesh. This time, unknown miscreants targeted a Buddhist temple in Rangunia of Chattagram district.

As per the received information, on the night of the 7th of January, unknown miscreants set ablaze the famous Buddhist temple and monastery situated in Rangunia. Due to the fire, parts of the Buddhist monastery were damaged. Also, the temple inside the monastery was burnt. The Murti of Bhagwan Buddha is damaged completely. 

The Buddhist monastery is considered a holy place by the Buddhist minorities of Bangladesh. The Buddhist monastery was founded by Shranakar Vikahu. 

As of now, no one has been arrested.

Notably, after the parliamentary elections of the 7th of January, targeted attacks against various minority communities are going on in Bangladesh. On 7th January, Islamists attacked Hindu minorities in the Gaibandha district of Bangladesh. On the same night, Hindus were attacked in Sirajganj. On the 9th of January evening, a Hindu leader of the ruling party, Awami League, was murdered in the Jhenaidah district. But Sheikh Hasina has not used a single word so far to condemn these attacks.
