Bangladesh: Islamists attacked Hindu minorities in Dhaka

Attack on the Hindu minorities of Bangladesh continues. This time, Islamists attacked Hindu minorities in Dhaka. Many Hindus are injured. 

As per the sources, on the 10th of June, Wednesday, around 1.30 PM, Muhammad Moniruzzaman, Majistrate came to Dhaka’s Miranjilla Colony to rehabilitate the Hindu minorities in the newly built centre. 

Local councillor Muhammad Auwal Hossain and his men opposed the decision. Soon, they turned violent and attacked the Hindus. 

Stones and bricks were pelted towards the Hindus. Islamists also attacked many Hindu homes and ransacked. A Hindu temple was also attacked . 

Around, 60 Hindus were injured. They were taken to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital. Many were released after treatment. 

Notably, the Miranjilla Colony area comes under the Dhaka South City Corporation. People of the Harijan Community live in the area. A month ago, the corporation decided to evict them. Many houses were demolished. But, after the nationwide outrage, the corporation stopped eviction drive. Also, the corporation decided to rehabilitate the evicted people. But, local Islamists elements, backed by Awami League leaders have been opposing the decision.
