Bangladesh: Hindu leader murdered in Satkhira district

The persecution of the Hindu minorities continues in Bangladesh. Now, a Hindu leader was murdered in the Satkhira district. 

Deceased Bijan Kumar Dey(62), a known face among the Hindu minorities of the Jessore district, was a resident of Paithali village under the jurisdiction of Ashashuni Police Station. 

As per the reports, on the morning of 3rd of September, 2025; some locals saw the body of Bijan Kumar Dey near a fishery. They informed the police. The police recovered the body and sent for postmortem. 

His brother said that Bijan went to the market during the evening. But, he didn’t return. In the morning, locals informed that his dead body has been found. 

Local Hindus are shocked on this. Many still couldn’t believe that Bijan Kumar Dey was murder. Some said that Bijan Kumar Dey was a known face on Hindu minorities rights and activities. He was a member of Puja Udjapon Parishad which manages the affairs of Durga Puja and other Hindu festival. 

Samshum Arefin, OC of the Ashashuni Police Station said, “ We haven’t received the postmortem report yet. We have lodged a complaint. We’ll start an investigation after receiving the postmortem report.”
