Assam: Police seized heroin worth ₹ 18 Crores coming from Manipur, six arrested

The Special Task Force of the Assam Police seized 2.2 kg of heroin in an operation on the night of September 11 from the Amingaon area of Kamrup district. The market value of the seized drugs is around ₹ 18 Crores. 

The operation was led by DIG Parthasarathi Mahanta and Kamrup district’s Additional Superintendent of Police Kalyan Kumar Pathak. 

As per reports, during the operation, the STF intercepted a car in Amingaon. The vehicle was coming from the neighbouring state of Manipur. During the search, the Police found hundreds of soap boxes under the seats. All boxes were filled with heroin—also, the Police got six people from the car. As per sources, all arrested are residents of Manipur. 

Assam CM Himanta Biswasarma congratulated the Special Task Force in a post on the Social media platform X. 

Earlier, on August 28, the STF of Assam Police and the Tinsukia district police recovered a large quantity of contraband drugs in a joint operation.
