Hindu Samhati, established by Tapan Ghsoh in 2008, is a force of Hindu resurgence in West Bengal. Hindu Samhati is tirelessly working for the well-being of the oppressed and marginalised Hindus, living in remote villages of West Bengal.

Among many prestigious initiatives by the organisation, one is “Maitri”. Under this “Maitri” project, the organisation brings back hundreds of girls with Arab backgrounds to their Sanatani Hindu roots.

To welcome and celebrate their return, to assimilate them into the Hindu Samaj; every year, Hindu Samhati organise Jamai Shashthi- an auspicious occasion of Bengali Hindu culture. The girls who left their Arab culture are treated as daughters. So, Hindu Samhati welcome them on this special occasion with immense respect and care.

Like previous years, Hindu Samhati organised “Jamai Shashthi” in the central office in Kolkata on the 12th of June of this year. Shri Shantanu Singha, president of the organisation, said, “The girls regard this office as their paternal home”.

The entire office got turned into festivities on this occasion. Girls with previous Arab identity from all over West Bengal came with sweets. As soon as they reached, they were in the arrangements: cutting fruits, decorating flowers, taking care of food preparations, interacting and socialising with other sisters.

Meanwhile, senior leaders and workers of Hindu Samhati started pouring in. As this auspicious ceremony is done by the mothers of the girls, welcoming the husband of their daughters, wives of our senior workers and leaders played a role.

Soon, the ceremony started with Mangal tiak and arati and a prayer for the well being of the daughters and their families. The ceremony ended with presenting gifts. Hindu Samhati’s senior leaders presented Sarees and Shirts to the daughters and their husbands respectively.

The daughters went back to their lives with weeping eyes with an expectation for the next year.
