Panshkura Incident: Police arrested 4 Hindus for Creating communal tensions

Panshkura Police arrested four Hindus in connection with the incident that could lead communal tension in the Radhaballav Chawk village of Purba Medinipur district.

Police arrested Sankar Bera, Santu Pal, Tapas Bakshi and Sarup Sahoo. Police started case against the four accused under IPC 147, 148, 149, 323, 326, 354, 506.

They were arrested on basis of the complaint of a woman resident of the village named Ambia Bibi. In her written complaint, she alleged that the accused attacked her minor daughter, abused and molested her. Based on her complaint, police filed an FIR, NO.- 05/23, Dated- 05/01/23.

In the report submitted by police to court, it is mentioned, ‘It is to noted over here that the all accused persons are doing such activity as a provocation which leads to communal disruption in the locality’.

It is to be noted here that on 5th of January, 2023 local Hindus of Radhaballav Chawk village under Panshkura police station of Purba Medinipur district were allegedly attacked by Jihadi mob. The Hindu villagers were renovating a 250 Year old Shiva Temple and were doing other works for upcoming Shiva Chaturdashi. All the works going on temple land. But Muslim mob attacked and stopped the work. Also, they threw bricks and stones towards Hindus. Jihadi mob demanded that the temple land belongs to them. All happened in front of police. Also several Hindus got injured in the Jihadi attack.
