After election results, persecution of Hindu minorities is happening regularly. A fresh case has come from Madaripur in Bangladesh.
On the 13th of January, Islamists brutally tortured a Hindu farmer Jhantu Mondal. He was beaten mercilessly, and his home was ransacked and looted. Torture was so brutal that his hands and legs were broken. He is now undergoing treatment in a hospital in Dhaka.
His wife alleged, “My husband went to the field for work. During the afternoon, Islamists Anowar Bepari, Jahangir Alam and others brought my husband in a rickshaw and left him in front of our house. He was senseless then. He couldn’t walk as his legs and hands were broken.”
Later that night, Islamists again came and attacked his house. Jahangir Alam and his gang ransacked the house and looted all valuable things from it. Islamists tried to molest their 14-year-old daughter. To save her daughter, Urmila Mondal, wife of Jhantu Mondal, ran away with her daughter.
Seriously injured Jhantu Mondal is now undergoing treatment in a hospital in Dhaka. His 14-year-old daughter is with him in Dhaka. His wife, Urmila, is now in the village, living alone. She is so terrified that she fears going to the local market.
As of now, Urmila Mondal didn’t dare to file any complaint against the Islamists. She is afraid that if she does so, they might have to face further torture.
