Assam: 2 arrested for smuggling cows from Myanmar to India
Smuggling from Myanmar is continuing. After betel nuts, gangs are active in smuggling cows from Myanmar into India.
On Thursday night, personnel of Bilaipur Police Station stopped a car loaded with cows. Police also arrested two persons named Hifjur Islam and Kalam Uddin Chowdhury.
Upon interrogation, they said that they brought the cows into India from Myanmar. They had planned to sell the cows in different markets of Hailakandi. Before that, police detained them and 16 cows were recovered.
As per sources, Hifjur Islam and Kalam Uddin Chowdhury are residents of Balichara village. On Friday, they were produced in Hailakandi district court and later they were sent to judicial custody. Police started a case(FIR No. 46/23, dated 10/03/23) against the smugglers and started investigation.
